Venice, Italy, 26 October 2021 – The “Mother and Son: Humpback Whales, Reunion Island” photo by Cédric Péneau won the DAN Europe Card prize at the Abissi Underwater Photo Contest of Venice, Italy.

The official ceremony was held last Saturday, October 23rd at the National Natural History Museum, a 13th-century palazzo on the Venice Grand Canal, hosting a number of collections including fossils, botanical, entomological, and zoological specimens.

The winning photo and photographer’s name will appear on over 100.000 e-Cards of DAN Europe Members all over Europe, the Middle East, and the Maldives throughout 2022.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” z_index=””][vc_column el_class=”page-text”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]“I am deeply honoured to have one of my photographs selected to represent such a reference as DAN Europe, which is by far the world’s most recognised dive safety agency” – said Mr Péneau in a statement.
“I have become a Member when I started travelling abroad, it kept me reassured and serene as I know DAN can be trusted even in remote places (…)”

Umberto Giorgini, Director of Operations at DAN Europe, stated: “The tender yet powerful image of two cetaceans, a mother and her calf diving together in the bluest waters is so meaningful, and well represents our values towards safer diving activities in more protected, healthier Oceans. We are delighted that this photo will be displayed to all our Members on the newly designed DAN Europe App, instead of the classic but outdated PVC card”.

“Organising an international photo contest in Covid times was quite a challenge, but the response from both photographers and public was fantastic – declared Agnese Zane, head of the organisation committee with Davide Barzazzi and Stefano Cerbai. “637 photos were submitted by photographers from 16 different countries, and quality was surprisingly high. In addition, Venice is always a place of captivating beauty. The whole experience made for a truly successful edition”.

Two more photos, both macro – an octopus in Mediterranean waters by Raffaella Spagnolello, and a colourful pipefish shot in the Philippines by Giorgio Cavallaro – were selected for a special mention prize. All winners received a free DAN Europe Sport Silver Membership.

 

The story behind an incredible shot

As told by the photographer himself: “Humpback Whales are migratory species who spend the Austral Summer in Antarctic waters to feed, and come up in Tropical waters to breed and mate. In Reunion Island we are lucky to have them every year, they like coming close to the shore, and with patience and care it is possible to get close to those curious gentle giants. Each whale can be identified by the shape and unique black and white pattern on the underside of its fluke, which can be photo-ID and named. This mother was named Méréva and was one of the stars of the 2018 season, often coming very close to snorkelers who approached her”.

About the photographer

“Like all French kids who were born in the 1970s I grew up watching Cousteau’s adventures on TV every Sunday afternoon and dreaming of exploring underwater worlds, but it was not until the age of 30 that I had the chance to try scuba diving. I immediately fell in love with it and since then I have dived in various locations, become an instructor and moved to tropical French overseas department Reunion Island where I have lived and worked as a high school teacher since 2006. I started underwater photography in 2007 with compact cameras, and upgraded to a DSLR kit in 2011. I am rather eclectic in taste, I like all kinds of shots, from macro photographs of critters in shallow rock pools to reefscapes wide angle shots, including -of course- cetaceans in the deep blue. I have travelled to various places in the world (especially to Asia which is my favourite “diving continent”) but I also regularly dive locally and never miss a “whale season” when we are lucky to have gentle giants visiting us in high numbers”.

About Abissi Venice

The Venice competition was created in 2008 by the Abissi-Underwater Photo Venice association, with the aim to let the world know more about the sea and its breathtaking beauties through photography, organisation of events, exhibitions and courses. The DAN Europe Card prize has been introduced in 2015.

Over the years Abissi has established itself as one of the most interesting underwater photo competitions on the national and international scene. A great event in one of the world’s most beautiful cities, Venice. Printed copies of all winning photos in the various competition categories – 27 shots selected by a jury of experts over 637 photos submitted this year – are exhibited at the National History Museum, in the picturesque “Gallery of Cetaceans”. Over the last 11 years, photos from the competition have been enriching the archives of the museum, also serving for educational and research purposes.

Benátky, Itálie, 26. října 2021 – Fotografie “Matka a syn: plejtváci dlouhoploutví, ostrov Reunion” od Cédrica Péneaua získala cenu DAN Europe Card na soutěži Abissi Underwater Photo Contest v italských Benátkách.

Oficiální ceremoniál se konal minulou sobotu 23. října v Národním historickém muzeu, tedy v paláci ze 13. století na Benátském velkém kanálu, kde se zároveň vystavovala řada sbírek včetně zkamenělin, botanických, entomologických a zoologických exemplářů.

Vítězná fotografie a jméno fotografa se objeví na více než 100 000 elektronických kartách členů DAN Europe po celé Evropě, na Středním východě a na Maledivách po celý rok 2022.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” z_index=””][vc_column el_class=”page-text”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]”Je mi velkou ctí, že byla vybraná jedna z mých fotografií, aby reprezentovala stejné poselství jako DAN Europe, která je zdaleka nejuznávanější organizací pro bezpečnost ponorů na světě – uvedl Cédric Péneau ve svém prohlášení.
“Když jsem začal cestovat do zahraničí, stal jsem se členem (Member), a to mi poskytovalo pocit jistoty a pohody, protože vím, že DAN lze důvěřovat i na odlehlých místech (…)”

Umberto Giorgini, provozní ředitel společnosti DAN Europe, k této fotografii poznamenal: “Něžný, ale silný obraz dvou kytovců, matky a jejího telete potápějícího se společně v nejmodřejších vodách, je velice výmluvný a dobře reprezentuje naše hodnoty zaměřené na bezpečnější potápěčské aktivity v chráněných a zdravějších oceánech. Jsme rádi, že tato fotografie bude zobrazena všem našim členům na nově navržené aplikaci DAN Europe namísto klasické, ale již poněkud zastaralé karty z PVC”.

“Uspořádání mezinárodní fotografické soutěže v covidové době bylo docela výzvou, ale reakce fotografů i veřejnosti byla fantastická – prohlásila Agnese Zane, vedoucí organizačního výboru společně s Davidem Barzazzim a Stefanem Cerbaiem. ” Fotografové z 16 různých zemí zaslali 637 fotografií a jejich kvalita byla až překvapivě vysoká. Kromě toho jsou Benátky místem podmanivé krásy. Celá tato akce byla velice úspěšná.”.

Další dvě fotografie, obě makro – chobotnice ve vodách Středozemního moře od Raffaella Spagnolella a krásně zbarvená ryba jehlovitá (pipefish) pořízená na Filipínách Giorgiem Cavallarem – byly vybrány pro zvláštní cenu. Všichni vítězové získali zdarma členství stupně DAN Europe Sport Silver.

 

Příběh za neuvěřitelným záběrem

Jak řekl sám fotograf: “Plejtváci dlouhoploutví jsou stěhovavé druhy, které tráví australské léto v antarktických vodách, aby se tam nakrmili, a přicházejí do tropických vod, aby se tam pářili a rozmnožovali. Na ostrově Reunion máme štěstí, že je tu máme každý rok, rádi se blíží ke břehu a má-li člověk dostatek trpělivosti a opatrnosti, může se přiblížit k těmto zvědavým něžným obrům až na malou vzdálenost. Každou velrybu lze identifikovat tvarem a jedinečným černobílým vzorem na spodní straně ocasní ploutve, který se dá vyfotografovat a použít k pojmenování příslušného jedince. Tato matka se jmenovala Méréva, byla jednou z hvězd sezóny 2018 a často se velmi přiblížila k šnorchlařům, kteří se vyskytli v její blízkosti.”

O fotografovi

“Stejně jako všechny francouzské děti, které se narodily v sedmdesátých letech, i já jsem vyrůstal při sledování Cousteauových dobrodružství v televizi každou neděli odpoledne a snil o objevování podmořských světů, ale až ve věku 30 let jsem měl možnost potápění si opravdu vyzkoušet. Okamžitě jsem se do něj zamiloval a od té doby jsem se potápěl na nejrůznějších místech, stal se instruktorem a přestěhoval se do tropické francouzské zámořské enklávy na ostrov Reunion, kde jsem žil a pracoval jako středoškolský učitel od roku 2006. Podvodní fotografii jsem se začal věnovat v roce 2007 s kompaktními fotoaparáty a v roce 2011 jsem „povýšil“ na používání soupravy DSLR. Tématicky se nijak zvlášť nespecializuji, mám rád všechny druhy záběrů, od makro fotografií zvířátek v mělkých skalních bazénech až po útesové scenérie širokoúhlých záběrů, včetně – samozřejmě – kytovců v tmavě modré barvě. Procestoval jsem různá místa na světě (zejména v Asii, která je mým oblíbeným “potápěčským kontinentem”), ale také se pravidelně potápím místně a nikdy nezmeškám “velrybí sezónu”, zvláště když máme to štěstí, že nás ve vysokých počtech navštěvují ti něžní obři”.

Více o Abissi Venice

Tato benátská soutěž byla založena v roce 2008 sdružením Abissi-Underwater Photo Venice s cílem informovat svět více o moři a jeho dechberoucích krásách prostřednictvím fotografie, organizováním různých akcí, výstav a kurzů. Cena DAN Europe Card byla poprvé zavedena v roce 2015.

V průběhu let se Abissi etablovala jako jedna z nejzajímavějších podvodních fotografických soutěží na národní i mezinárodní scéně. Jedná se o významnou událost pořádanou v jednom z nejkrásnějších měst světa, v Benátkách. Tištěné kopie všech vítězných fotografií v různých soutěžních kategoriích – 27 snímků vybraných odbornou porotou z celkem 637 fotografií předložených v letošním roce – jsou vystaveny v Národním historickém muzeu, v malebné “Galerii kytovců”. V posledních 11 letech fotografie z této soutěže obohacují archivy muzea, které slouží i pro vzdělávací a výzkumné účely.

Venetië, Italië, 26 oktober 2021 – De foto “Mother and Son: Bultrug walvissen, Reunion Eiland” van Cédric Péneau won de DAN Europe Card-prijs op de Abissi Underwater Photo Contest van Venetië, Italië.

De officiële ceremonie vond zaterdag 23 oktober plaats in het Museum voor Nationale Geschiedenis, een 13de-eeuws gebouw aan het Groot Kanaal van Venetië, waar verschillende collecties zijn ondergebracht, van o.a. fossielen, botanische, entomologische en zoölogische exemplaren.

De winnende foto en de naam van de fotograaf zal verschijnen op meer dan 100.000 e-Cards van DAN Europe-leden in heel Europa, het Midden-Oosten en de Malediven gedurende 2022.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” z_index=””][vc_column el_class=”page-text”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]“Ik ben zeer vereerd dat één van mijn foto’s is geselecteerd om een organisatie zoals DAN Europe te vertegenwoordigen, welke verreweg ‘s werelds meest erkende duikveiligheidsorganisatie is – zei Mr. Péneau in een verklaring. “Ik ben DAN lid geworden toen ik naar het buitenland begon te reizen, en voel me gerustgesteld en sereen omdat ik weet ik zelfs op afgelegen plaatsen op DAN kan vertrouwen (…)”

Umberto Giorgini, Director of Operations bij DAN Europe, verklaarde: “Het tedere maar krachtige beeld van twee walvisachtigen, een moeder en haar kalf die samen in de blauwste wateren duiken, is zo betekenisvol, en vertegenwoordigt goed onze waarden voor veiligere duikactiviteiten in meer beschermde, gezondere oceanen. We zijn verheugd dat deze foto aan al onze leden zal worden getoond in de nieuw ontworpen DAN Europe App, in plaats van de klassieke maar verouderde PVC-kaart”.

“Het organiseren van een internationale fotowedstrijd in Covid-tijden was een hele uitdaging, maar de respons van zowel fotografen als het publiek was fantastisch – verklaarde Agnese Zane, hoofd van het organisatiecomité met Davide Barzazzi en Stefano Cerbai. “637 foto’s werden ingezonden door fotografen uit 16 verschillende landen en de kwaliteit was verrassend hoog. Bovendien is Venetië altijd een plaats van betoverende schoonheid. De hele ervaring zorgde voor een echt succesvolle editie”.

Nog twee foto’s, beide macro – een octopus in de Middellandse Zee door Raffaella Spagnolello, en een kleurrijke zeenaald gefotografeerd in de Filippijnen door Giorgio Cavallaro – werden geselecteerd voor de speciale vermeldingsprijs. Alle winnaars ontvingen een gratis DAN Europe Sport Silver Lidmaatschap.

 

Het verhaal achter de geweldige foto

Zoals de fotograaf zelf vertelde: “Bultruggen zijn één van de trekkende diersoorten die de Austral zomer in de Antarctische wateren doorbrengen om zich te voeden, en in tropische wateren opduiken om te broeden en te paren. Op het eiland Réunion hebben we het geluk dat we ze elk jaar hebben, ze komen graag dicht bij de kust, en met geduld en zorg is het mogelijk om dicht bij die nieuwsgierige vriendelijke reuzen te komen. Elke walvis kan worden geïdentificeerd aan de hand van de vorm en het unieke zwart-wit patroon aan de onderkant van zijn staartvin, die een foto-ID en naam kan hebben. Deze moeder heette Méréva en was een van de sterren van het seizoen 2018, die vaak heel dicht bij snorkelaars kwam”.

Over de fotograaf

“Zoals alle Franse kinderen die in de jaren zeventig zijn geboren keek ik, elke zondagmiddag, naar de avonturen van Cousteau op tv en droomde ik van het verkennen van onderwaterwerelden. Maar pas op mijn dertigste kreeg ik de kans om te duiken. Ik werd er meteen verliefd op en sindsdien heb ik op verschillende locaties gedoken, ben ik instructeur geworden en ben ik verhuisd naar het tropische Franse overzeese Eiland “Reunion” waar ik sinds 2006 woon en werk als leraar op een middelbare school. Ik ben in 2007 begonnen met onderwaterfotografie met compactcamera’s en in 2011 ben ik overgestapt naar een DSLR-kit. Ik ben nogal eclectisch van smaak, ik hou van allerlei soorten foto’s, van macrofoto’s van beestjes in ondiepe rotspoelen tot groothoekopnamen van riflandschappen, inclusief -natuurlijk- walvisachtigen in de blauwe diepte. Ik heb naar verschillende plaatsen in de wereld gereisd (vooral naar Azië, mijn favoriete “duikcontinent”), maar ik duik ook regelmatig lokaal en mis nooit een “walvisseizoen” als we het geluk hebben dat de vriendelijke reuzen ons in grote aantallen bezoeken” .

Over Abissi Venice

De wedstrijd in Venetië werd in 2008 in het leven geroepen door de vereniging “Abissi-Underwater Photo Venice”, met als doel de wereld meer te laten weten over de zee en haar adembenemende schoonheden door middel van fotografie, de organisatie van evenementen, tentoonstellingen en cursussen. De DAN Europe Card-prijs werd in 2015 geïntroduceerd.

In de loop der jaren heeft Abissi zichzelf gevestigd als een van de meest interessante onderwaterfotowedstrijden op nationaal en internationaal niveau. Een geweldig evenement in een van ‘s werelds mooiste steden, Venetië. Gedrukte exemplaren van alle winnende foto’s in de verschillende wedstrijdcategorieën – 27 foto’s geselecteerd door een jury van experts uit 637 ingezonden foto’s dit jaar – worden tentoongesteld in het National History Museum, in de pittoreske “Gallery of Cetaceans”. In de afgelopen 11 jaar hebben foto’s van de wedstrijd de archieven van het museum verrijkt, zelfs voor educatieve en onderzoeksdoeleinden.

Venetsiassa 26. lokakuuta 2021 – Cédric Péneaun valokuva “Mother and Son: Humpback Whales, Reunion Island” voitti DAN Europen jäsenkorttia koskevan palkinnon Abissi Underwater Photo-valokuvakilpailussa Venetsiassa Italiassa.

Virallinen seremonia oli lauantaina 23. lokakuuta kansallishistoriallisessa museossa, joka sijaitsee 1200-luvulta peräisin olevassa palatsissa Canal Grande -kanavan varrella. Museosta löytyy monia eri kokoelmia, jotka sisältävät fossiileja sekä näytekappaleita sekä kasvi-, hyönteis- että eläintieteen alalta.

Voittanut valokuva ja valokuvaajan nimi tulevat esiintymään DAN Europen jäsenten yli 100 000 sähköisessä jäsenkortissa kaikkialla Euroopassa samoin kuin Lähi-idässä ja Malediiveilla vuoden 2022 ajan.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” z_index=””][vc_column el_class=”page-text”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]“Minulle on suuri kunnia, että yksi valokuvistani on valittu edustamaan sellaista suosittelijaa kuin DAN Europe. DAN Europehan on ylivoimaisesti maailman tunnetuin sukellusturvallisuusjärjestö”, totesi Cédric Péneau lausunnossaan.
“Minusta tuli DANin jäsen, kun aloin matkustella ulkomailla. Saatoin matkustaa rauhallisin mielin, kun tiesin voivani luottaa DANiin syrjäisilläkin seuduilla.”

DAN Europen operatiivinen johtaja toteaa: “Tämä herkkä mutta samalla myös voimaa uhkuva kuva kahdesta valaasta, äidistä ja sen poikasesta syvänsinisessä vedessä, on todella puhutteleva. Se edustaa erinomaisesti toimintamme arvoja, kun pyrimme toteuttamaan turvallisempaan sukeltamista ja edistämään merien suojelua ja terveyttä yhä voimakkaammin. Iloitsemme siitä, että tämän valokuvan tulevat kaikki meidän jäsenemme näkemään DAN Europen uudessa sovelluksessa, joka korvaa perinteisen mutta vanhentuneen PVC-kortin.”

“Kansainvälisen valokuvauskilpailun järjestäminen koronapandemian aikana oli aikamoinen haaste, mutta palaute sekä valokuvaajilta että yleisöltä on ollut todella fantastista”, kertoo Agnese Zane, joka on järjestelytoimikunnan johtaja yhdessä Davide Barzazzin ja Stefano Cerbain kanssa. “Valokuvaajat lähettivät 637 valokuvaa 16 eri maasta, ja kuvat olivat yllättävän laadukkaita. Lisäksi Venetsia valloittaa aina kauneudellaan. Tämä tapahtuma oli siis kaikin puolin todella onnistunut.”

Kaksi muuta valokuvaa sai erikoismaininnan. Molemmat olivat lähikuvia. Toisen kuvan oli ottanut Raffaella Spagnolello, ja siinä oli mustekala Välimeren vesissä. Toisessa kuvassa oli eräs värikäs merineuloihin kuuluva kala (pipefish) Filippiineillä kuvaajanaan Giorgio Cavallaro. Kaikki voittajat saivat ilmaiseksi DAN Europen Sport Silver -jäsenyyden.

 

Miten voittajakuva sitten syntyi?

Valokuvaaja itse kertoo siitä näin: “Ryhävalaat ovat valaslaji, joka muuttaa. Ne viettävät Australian kesän ajan Etelämantereen vesillä ravinnonhankinnassa ja siirtyvät trooppisille vesille parittelemaan ja lisääntymään. Reunionilla olemme onnekkaita, kun saamme näitä valaita vieraiksemme joka vuosi. Ne tulevat mielellään lähelle rantaa, ja varovaisesti ja kärsivällisesti toimien on mahdollista päästä lähelle näitä uteliaita ja lempeitä jättiläisiä. Jokainen valas voidaan tunnistaa pyrstön haaran muodon ja ainutlaatuisen mustavalkoisen kuvion perusteella, joka on pyrstön haaran alla. Valaasta voi olla valokuva tunnistusta varten, ja sillä voi olla nimi. Tämän äidin nimi oli Méréva, ja se oli yksi vuoden 2018 valaskauden tähdistä. Se tuli usein hyvin lähelle snorklaajia, jotka pyrkivät lähestymään sitä.”

Tietoa kuvaajasta

“Kuten kaikki 1970-luvulla syntyneet ranskalaislapset myös minä vietin lapsuuteni katsomalla Cousteaun seikkailuja televisiosta joka sunnuntai-iltapäivä unelmoiden tutkimusmatkoista vedenalaiseen maailmaan. Kuitenkin vasta 30 vuoden iässä minulle aukeni mahdollisuus kokeilla laitesukellusta. Rakastuin lajiin saman tien, ja olen sen jälkeen sukeltanut eri kohteissa ja minusta on tullut sukelluskouluttaja. Olen myös muuttanut Reunionille, joka on trooppinen saari ja Ranskalle kuuluva merentakainen departementti. Olen asunut ja työskennellyt siellä lukion opettajana vuodesta 2006. Aloitin vedenalaisen valokuvauksen vuonna 2007 kompaktikameralla ja siirryin käyttämään DSLR-kameraa vuonna 2011. Tykkään kuvata erilaisia kohteita ja valitsen niitä monipuolisesti. Otan lähikuvia otuksista, jotka majailevat kivikkoisissa lammikoissa matalassa vedessä. Otan myös laajakulmakuvia riuttamaisemista, joihin sisältyy tietysti kuvia valaista sinisellä ulapalla. Olen matkustanut eri puolilla maailmaa (erityisesti Aasiassa, joka on suosikkini sukellusmantereena). Sukellan kuitenkin jatkuvasti myös paikallisesti. En myöskään koskaan “missaa” valassesonkia, kun meillä on mahdollisuus saada monta lempeää jättiläistä vieraaksemme.“

Tietoa Venetsian Abissi-valokuvakilpailusta

Venetsian kilpailun perusti vuonna 2008 Abissi-Underwater Photo Venice -järjestö. Tavoitteena oli levittää laajasti tietoa meristä ja niiden henkeäsalpaavasta kauneudesta valokuvauksen, tapahtumien, näyttelyiden ja kurssien avulla. DAN Europen jäsenkorttia koskeva palkinto jaettiin ensimmäisen kerran vuonna 2015.

Vuosien saatossa Abissista on muodostunut yksi mielenkiintoisimmista vedenalaisen valokuvauksen kilpailuista sekä kansallisella että kansainvälisellä tasolla. Kyseessä on vaikuttava tapahtuma yhdessä maailman kauneimmista kaupungeista eli Venetsiassa. Kansallishistoriallisessa museossa, kuvauksellisessa “Valaiden galleriassa”, on esillä printatut kopiot kaikista eri kilpailuluokkien voittajakuvista. Asiantuntijoista koostuva tuomaristo on valinnut 27 valokuvaa yli 637 kuvasta, jotka kilpailuun on lähetetty tänä vuonna. Yli 11 vuoden ajan kilpailun valokuvat ovat rikastuttaneet omalta osaltaan museon arkistoja ja niitä on voitu hyödyntää myös koulutus- ja tutkimuskäytössä.

Venise, Italie, 26 octobre 2021 – La photo de Cédric Péneau « Mère et fils : baleines à bosse de l’île de la Réunion » a remporté le prix de la Carte DAN Europe au concours de photographie sous-marine Abissi à Venise en Italie.

La cérémonie officielle s’est tenue samedi dernier, 23 octobre, au musée national d’Histoire naturelle, un palais du XIIIe siècle le long du Gran Canal de Venise, qui héberge une collection de fossiles et de spécimens botaniques, entomologiques et zoologiques.

La photographie qui a remporté le prix et le nom du photographe apparaîtront sur plus de 100 000 cartes électroniques de membres DAN Europe en Europe, au Moyen-Orient et aux Maldives pour l’année 2022.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” z_index=””][vc_column el_class=”page-text”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]« C’est un véritable honneur d’avoir une des mes photographies sélectionnée pour représenter une référence telle que DAN Europe, qui est l’agence de sécurité de la plongée la plus reconnue dans le monde » a annoncé M. Péneau dans un communiqué.

« Je suis devenu membre quand j’ai commencé à voyager à l’étranger, cela me rassurait de savoir que je pouvais compter sur DAN même dans les endroits les plus reculés (…) »

Umberto Giorgini, le directeur opérationnel de DAN Europe a déclaré : « Cette image tendre mais puissante de deux cétacés, une mère et son petit, plongeant ensemble dans les eaux parfaitement bleues est tellement significative et représente nos valeurs envers des activités de plongée plus sûres dans un océan mieux protégé et en meilleure santé. Nous sommes ravis de diffuser cette photo auprès de tous nos membres sur la toute nouvelle app DAN Europe, qui remplace les anciennes cartes en plastique. »

« Organiser un concours international en période d’épidémie a été un véritable défi, mais la réponse des photographes et du public a été incroyable » a déclaré Agnese Zane, la responsable du comité d’organisation avec Davide Barzazzi et Stefano Cerbai. « 637 photos ont été proposées par des photographes de 16 pays différents, avec une qualité au-delà de toute attente. Par ailleurs, Venise est toujours un endroit qui sait capturer la beauté. L’expérience dans sa globalité a fait de cette édition un succès. »
Deux autres photos, toutes deux des macros – un poulpe dans les eaux de Méditerranée pris par Raffaella Spagnolello, et un syngnathe coloré pris aux Philippines par Giorgio Cavallaro – ont été sélectionnées pour un prix spécial. Tous les gagnants ont reçu une adhésion DAN Europe Sport Silver gratuite.

 

L’histoire derrière un cliché extraordinaire

Comme le décrit le photographe lui-même : « Les baleines à bosse sont une espèce migratrice qui passe l’été austral dans les eaux de l’Antarctique pour se nourrir, puis remontent dans les eaux tropicales pour s’accoupler et mettre à bas. À l’île de la Réunion, nous avons la chance de les voir tous les ans, elles aiment s’approcher des côtes, et avec de la patiente et des précautions, il est possible de s’approcher de ces gentilles géantes curieuses. Chaque baleine est identifiée par la forme de sa nageoire caudale et le motif unique de ses taches blanches et noires situées au-dessous, qui peuvent être photographiées et nommées. Cette mère s’appelait Méréva et était l’une des stars de la saison 2018, elle s’approchait souvent des snorkelers qui nageaient à proximité. »

À propos du photographe

« Comme tous les enfants qui sont nés en France dans les années 1970, j’ai grandi en regardant les aventures de Cousteau à la télé tous les dimanches après-midi et en rêvant d’explorer le monde sous-marin, mais ce ne fut pas avant mes 30 ans que j’ai eu l’opportunité de tester la plongée sous-marine. J’en suis immédiatement tombé amoureux et depuis j’ai plongé dans de nombreux endroits, je suis devenu instructeur et j’ai déménagé dans le département d’outre-mer français de la Réunion où je vis et travaille en tant que professeur dans un lycée depuis 2006. J’ai débuté la photographie sous-marine en 2007 avec un appareil photo compact, puis je suis passé à un appareil photo reflex en 2011. J’ai plutôt des goûts éclectiques, j’aime tous les types de photo, de la macro de créatures de piscines naturelles peu profondes aux prises de vue grand-angle de récifs, ce qui inclut aussi, bien sûr, les mammifères marins dans le bleu de l’océan. J’ai voyagé dans de nombreux endroits à travers le monde (en particulier en Asie qui est mon « continent de plongée » préféré) mais je continue à plonger près de chez moi et ne manque jamais la « saison des baleines » quand nous avons la chance de recevoir la visite de ces gentilles géantes en grand nombre. »

À propos de Abissi à Venise

Le concours de Venise a été créé en 2008 par l’association Abissi-Underwater Photo Venice, dans le but de faire connaître au monde entier la mer et sa beauté époustouflante à travers la photographie, l’organisation d’événements, d’expositions et de stages. Le prix DAN Europe Card a été lancé en 2015.

Au fil des années, Abissi s’est imposé comme l’un des concours de photo sous-marine les plus intéressants sur la scène nationale et internationale. Un grand événement dans l’une des plus belles villes du monde, Venise. Des copies imprimées de toutes les photos gagnantes dans les différentes catégories du concours – 27 clichés sélectionnés par un jury d’experts sur 637 photos proposées cette année – sont exposées au musée national d’histoire naturelle, dans la superbe “Galerie des cétacés”. Au cours des 11 dernières années, les photos du concours ont enrichi les archives du musée, servant également à des fins pédagogiques et de recherche.

Venedig, 26. Oktober 2021 – Das Foto “Mutter und Sohn: Buckelwale vor der Insel Reunion” von Cédric Péneau gewann den DAN Europe Card Preis beim Abissi Underwater Photo Contest in Venedig.

Die offizielle Siegerehrung fand am 23. Oktober im Museum für Naturgeschichte statt, einem im 13. Jahrhundert erbauten Palazzo direkt am Canale Grande, der eine Reihe Sammlungen von Fossilien, Pflanzen, Insekten und Tieren beherbergt.

Das Siegerfoto und der Name des Fotografen erscheinen im kommenden Jahr auf mehr als 100.000 elektronischen DAN-Mitgliedskarten in ganz Europa, dem Nahen Osten und auf den Malediven.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” z_index=””][vc_column el_class=”page-text”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]”Es ist mir eine große Ehre, mit einem meiner Bilder eine Institution wie DAN Europe zu repräsentieren”, erklärte Péneau. “DAN Europe ist die Nummer eins in Sachen Tauchsicherheit. Ich bin Mitglied, seit ich international reise. Mit DAN fühle ich mich auch an entlegenen Orten gut betreut und sicher aufgehoben.”

DAN Europe Director of Operations Umberto Giorgini meint: ”Das innige, kraftvolle Bild zweier Wale, Mutter und Jungtier, in kristallklarem Wasser, repräsentiert unsere Werte als Organisation in nahezu idealtypischer Weise – mehr Sicherheit beim Tauchen in einem besser geschützten natürlichen Lebensraum. Wir freuen uns, dass all unsere Mitglieder dieses Bild in der neu entwickelten DAN Europe App präsentiert bekommen, die unsere klassische, aber überkommene Karte aus PVC ersetzt.”

”In Zeiten der Pandemie einen Fotowettbewerb zu organisieren war eine Herausforderung, aber die Reaktion von Fotografen und Öffentlichkeit war fantastisch”, ergänzt Agnese Zane, die zusammen mit Davide Barzazzi und Stefano Cerbai die Organisation in der Hand hatte. “Fotografen aus 126 Ländern reichten insgesamt 637 Bilder ein, und die Qualität war durchgängig überraschend hoch. Zudem ist Venedig selbst natürlich auch ein Ort von faszinierender Schönheit. Unterm Strich sind wir mit dem Verlauf der Veranstaltung ausgesprochen zufrieden.”

Zwei weitere Fotos – beide Makro, ein Oktopus im Mittelmeer von Raffaelle Spagnolello und eine bunte Seenadel in philippinischen Gewässern von Giorgio Cavallaro – erhielten jeweils einen Sonderpreis. Alle Sieger erhielten eine kostenlose Sport Silver Mitgliedschaft bei DAN Europe.

 

Die Geschichte hinter einem unglaublichen Foto

In den Worten des Fotografen selbst: “Buckelwale verbringen den Sommer auf der Südhalbkugel in den nahrungsreichen Gewässern der Antarktis und ziehen dann zur Paarung in tropische Gefilde. Auf Reunion haben wir das Glück, sie jedes Jahr anzutreffen. Die Wale kommen nahe zur Küste, und mit etwas Geduld und Sorgfalt kann man diesen neugierigen Giganten recht nahe kommen. Man kann individuelle Wale anhand der einzigartigen Zeichnung an der Unterseite der Fluke identifizieren. Die Mutter auf dem Foto heißt Méréva und war einer der Stars der Saison 2018, als sie sich den Schnorchlern häufig bis auf sehr kurze Distanz näherte.”

Der Fotograf

“Wie alle Kinder, die in den 1970er Jahren in Frankreich aufwuchsen, schaute ich jeden Sonntag die Sendung von Jaques Cousteau im Fernsehen und träumte davon, selbst die Meere zu erforschen. Die erste Gelegenheit, tatsächlich selbst zu tauchen, ergab sich aber erst, als ich bereits 30 Jahre alt war. Ich war sofort verliebt, ging an den verschiedensten Orten tauchen und ließ mich irgendwann im französischen Übersee-Departement Reunion nieder, wo ich seit 2006 lebe und als Gymnasiallehrer arbeite. Zu fotografieren begann ich 2007 mit einer Kompaktkamera und wechselte 2011 zu einer Spiegelreflex. Mein Geschmack ist ziemlich vielfältig: Ich mag alle Arten Fotos, von Makro im Flachwasser über Rifflandschaften in Weitwinkel bis hin zu (selbstredend) Walen im Blauwasser. Ich reise gerne, vor allem nach Asien (meinbevorzugter “Tauchkontinent”), tauche aber auch viel vor Ort in Reunion und habe noch keine Walsaison verpasst.”

Über Abissi Venice

Der Wettbewerb in Venedig wurde 2008 von der Organisation Abissi-Underwater Photo Venice ins Leben gerufen mit dem Ziel, durch Fotografie, Veranstaltungen, Ausstellungen und Kurse mehr Aufmerksamkeit für die Schönheit maritimer Lebensräume zu erzeugen. Der DAN Europe Card Preis wurde 2015 erstmals vergeben.

Mit den Jahren hat sich Abissi auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene als einer der interessantesten Fotowettbewerbe etabliert – eine spannende Veranstaltung in Venedig, einer der schönsten Städte der Welt. Drucke aller Siegerfotos – 27 von insgesamt 637 eingereichten Bildern, ausgewählt von einer Expertenjury – werden in der malerischen “Walgalerie” des Museums für Naturgeschichte ausgestellt. Seit 11 Jahren bereichern Fotos aus der Veranstaltung die Archive des Museums und werden auch zu Forschungs- und Bildungszwecken eingesetzt.

Venezia, 26 ottobre 2021 – La foto “Megattere: madre e figlio” del fotografo francese Cédric Péneau ha vinto il premio DAN Europe Card al Concorso fotosub Abissi di Venezia.

La premiazione ufficiale si è tenuta sabato 23 ottobre al Museo Nazionale di Storia Naturale, all’interno di un elegante palazzo del XIII secolo che si affaccia sul Canal Grande, e che ospita numerose collezioni tra cui fossili, esemplari botanici, entomologici e zoologici.

Secondo Umberto Giorgini, Direttore delle Operazioni presso DAN Europe, “l’immagine tenera ma potente di due cetacei, una madre e il suo cucciolo che si immergono insieme nel Blu è davvero significativa e rappresenta bene i nostri valori verso attività subacquee più sicure, in acque più protette ed in salute. Siamo lieti che questa foto sarà mostrata a tutti i nostri iscritti sulla nuova App DAN Europe, che ha sostituito le classiche ma non più sostenibili tessere plastificate”.

“Organizzare un concorso fotografico internazionale in tempi di Covid è stata una bella sfida, ma la risposta dei fotografi e del pubblico è stata fantastica – ha dichiarato Agnese Zane, organizzatrice del concorso insieme a Davide Barzazzi e Stefano Cerbai. “Sono state presentate 637 foto di fotografi provenienti da 16 Paesi, e la qualità è stata sorprendentemente alta. Inoltre, Venezia è sempre un luogo di incomparabile fascino. L’intera esperienza ha reso questa edizione un vero successo”.

Altre due foto, entrambe macro – un polpo nelle acque del Mediterraneo di Raffaella Spagnolello e un colorato pesce ago ritratto nelle Filippine da Giorgio Cavallaro – sono state selezionate per il Premio Speciale DAN Europe. Tutti i vincitori hanno ricevuto un’iscrizione DAN Sport Silver gratuita.

 

La storia dietro un incredibile scatto

Come racconta lo stesso fotografo: “Le megattere sono specie migratorie che passano l’estate australe nelle acque antartiche per nutrirsi, e risalgono verso le acque tropicali per accoppiarsi e riprodursi. Nell’Isola di Réunion abbiamo la fortuna di vederle ogni anno, amano avvicinarsi alla riva, e con pazienza e attenzione è possibile avvicinarsi a questi curiosi e gentili giganti. Ogni balena può essere identificata dalla forma e dal pattern unico in bianco e nero sulla parte inferiore della coda, che può essere fotografata e registrata. Questa madre è stata chiamata Méréva ed è stata una delle stelle della stagione 2018, arrivando spesso molto vicino a snorkelisti e sub che le si avvicinavano”.

Chi è il fotografo

“Come tutti i ragazzini francesi nati negli anni ’70 sono cresciuto guardando le avventure di Cousteau in TV ogni domenica pomeriggio e sognavo di esplorare mondi sommersi, ma è stato solo all’età di 30 anni che ho avuto la possibilità di fare immersioni subacquee. Me ne sono subito innamorato e da allora mi sono immerso in varie località, sono diventato istruttore e mi sono trasferito nel dipartimento tropicale francese d’oltremare, l’isola della Réunion, dove vivo e lavoro come insegnante di scuola superiore dal 2006. Ho iniziato a fotografare il mondo subacqueo nel 2007 con fotocamere compatte, e sono passato a un kit DSLR nel 2011. Ho gusti piuttosto eclettici, mi piacciono tutti i tipi di scatti, dalle fotografie macro in acque poco profonde a scatti grandangolari di paesaggi corallini, inclusi – naturalmente – i cetacei nel profondo blu. Ho viaggiato in vari luoghi del mondo (soprattutto in Asia, che è il mio “continente di immersione” preferito) ma mi immergo regolarmente anche a livello locale e non perdo mai la “stagione delle balene” quando abbiamo la fortuna di avere giganti gentili che ci visitano in gran numero”.

Il concorso Abissi Venezia

Il concorso di Venezia nasce nel 2008 con l’associazione Abissi-Underwater Photo Venicee , per far conoscere al mondo il mare e le sue incredibili bellezze attraverso la fotografia e l’organizzazione di eventi, mostre e corsi. Nel 2015 è stato introdotto il premio DAN Europe Card. Negli anni Abissi si è affermato come uno dei concorsi fotografici subacquei più interessanti del panorama nazionale e internazionale. Un grande evento in una delle città più belle del mondo, Venezia. Le copie stampate di tutte le foto vincitrici delle varie categorie del concorso – 27 scatti selezionati da una giuria di esperti su 637 foto presentate quest’anno – sono esposte al Museo di Storia Naturale, nella suggestiva “Galleria dei Cetacei”. Nel corso degli ultimi 11 anni le foto del concorso hanno arricchito l’archivio del museo, servendo anche a fini didattici e di ricerca.

Wenecja, Włochy, 26 października 2021 – zdjęcie „Matka i syn: humbaki, wyspa Reunion”, którego autorem jest Cédric Péneau otrzymało nagrodę w konkursie Abissi Underwater Photo Contest w Wenecji we Włoszech i będzie publikowane na certyfikacie DAN Europe.

Oficjalna ceremonia odbyła się w zeszłą sobotę, 23 października w Muzeum Historii Naturalnej – trzynastowiecznym pałacu nad Wielkim Kanałem, w którym przechowywane są liczne kolekcje skamieniałości, okazów botanicznych, entomologicznych i zoologicznych.

Zdjęcie, które zwyciężyło w konkursie oraz imię i nazwisko fotografa ukażą się na ponad 100 tysiącach elektronicznych certyfikatów e-Card, które będą wydawane członkom PADI w całej Europie, na Bliskim Wschodzie i na Malediwach przez cały rok 2022.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” z_index=””][vc_column el_class=”page-text”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]„Jest to dla mnie ogromny zaszczyt, że jedno z moich zdjęć zostało wybrane do reprezentowania DAN Europe, najbardziej uznanej organizacji zapewniającej bezpieczeństwo nurkowania” – stwierdził Cédric Péneau w swoim oświadczeniu.

„Zostałem członkiem DAN, kiedy zacząłem podróżować za granicę. Dzięki temu nie musiałem się o nic martwić, ponieważ mogłem zaufać DAN nawet w odległych miejscach (…)”.

Umberto Giorgini, Dyrektor Operacyjny DAN Europe powiedział: „Delikatne, ale bardzo wymowne zdjęcie dwóch wielorybów, matki i dziecka razem w błękitnej wodzie ma niezwykłe znaczenie. Reprezentuje nasze wartości, aby nurkować bezpieczniej w zdrowych, chronionych oceanach. Jesteśmy bardzo szczęśliwi, że to właśnie to zdjęcie będą widzieli wszyscy nasi członkowie w nowo stworzonej aplikacji DAN Europe App, zamiast klasycznego, ale przestarzałego certyfikatu PVC.

„Zorganizowanie międzynarodowego konkursu fotograficznego w czasach pandemii Covid było dość trudne, ale odpowiedź fotografów i widzów była fantastyczna” – powiedziała Agnese Zane, dyrektor komitetu organizacyjnego, w którym pracowali również Davide Barzazzi i Stefano Cerbai. „Zgłoszono 637 zdjęć wykonanych przez fotografów z 16 krajów, a ich jakość była zadziwiająco wysoka. Na dodatek Wenecja jest przepięknym miejscem, dlatego ta edycja konkursu była niezwykle udana”.

Przyznano również nagrodę specjalną dwóm innym zdjęciom makro: ośmiornica w wodach Morza Śródziemnego – autor Raffaella Spagnolello oraz kolorowa iglicznia na Filipinach – autor Giorgio Cavallaro. Wszyscy zwycięzcy otrzymali bezpłatne członkostwo Sport Silver w DAN Europe.

 

Historia niesamowitego ujęcia

O historii zdjęcia opowiada nam sam fotograf: „Humbaki są gatunkiem migrującym. Spędzają lato w wodach Antarktyki zdobywając pożywienie, a potem przepływają na wody tropikalne, aby się rozmnażać. Na wyspie Reunion mamy to szczęście, że humbaki przypływają co roku i często widać je niedaleko brzegu. Jeśli jesteś cierpliwy i ostrożny, możesz zbliżyć się do tych ciekawych, łagodnych olbrzymów. Każdego wieloryba można sfotografować, zidentyfikować po kształcie i unikalnym, biało-czarnym wzorze pod płetwami i nadać mu imię. Matka na zdjęciu to Méréva. Była ona jedną z gwiazd sezonu 2018, ponieważ często podpływała bardzo blisko osób pływających w ABC”.

O autorze zdjęcia

„Jak każde inne dziecko urodzone we Francji w latach 70-tych dorastałem oglądając przygody Cousteau w telewizji w każdą niedzielę po południu i marząc o odkrywaniu podwodnego świata. Niestety dopiero w wieku 30 lat miałem okazję spróbować nurkowania. Natychmiast je pokochałem i od tamtej pory nurkowałem w wielu miejscach, zostałem instruktorem i przeprowadziłem się na wyspę Reunion, która jest zamorskim departamentem Francji. Tam mieszkam i pracuję jako nauczyciel w szkole wyższej od 2006 roku. Zacząłem robić podwodne zdjęcia kompaktowym aparatem w 2007 roku i wymieniłem go na zestaw DSLR w 2011 roku. Mam bardzo szerokie zainteresowania, lubię robić każdego rodzaju zdjęcia, od makro przedstawiającego małe stworzenia w płytkim zbiorniku po szerokokątne zdjęcia rafy – jak również wieloryby w wielkim błękicie. Podróżowałem do wielu miejsc na świecie (zwłaszcza do Azji, która jest moim ulubionym ‘nurkowym kontynentem’). Regularnie nurkuje również w lokalnych miejscach i nigdy nie opuszczam ‘sezonu wielorybów’, kiedy mamy szczęście zobaczyć duże grupy tych łagodnych olbrzymów”.

O Abissi Venice

Konkurs w Wenecji został zorganizowany w 2008 roku przez stowarzyszenie Abissi-Underwater Photo Venice. Jego celem było pokazanie światu morza i jego oszałamiającego piękna poprzez zdjęcia, organizację wydarzeń, wystaw i kursów. Nagroda DAN Europe polegająca na umieszczeniu zdjęcia na certyfikacie została wprowadzona w 2015 roku.

W ciągu wielu lat Abissi stało się jednym z najbardziej interesujących konkursów fotografii podwodnej w kraju i na arenie międzynarodowej. Jest to wspaniałe wydarzenie w jednym z najpiękniejszych miast na świecie, Wenecji. Wydrukowane kopie zdjęć nagrodzonych w różnych kategoriach – w sumie 27 fotografii wybranych przez jurorów-ekspertów spośród ponad 637 zdjęć zgłoszonych w tym roku – można obejrzeć w Muzeum Historii Naturalnej w „Galerii Wielorybów”. Przez ponad 11 lat zdjęcia z konkursu wzbogacały archiwa muzealne i służyły do celów edukacyjnych i badań.

Venecia, Italia, 2 de noviembre de 2021 – – La foto “Madre y su cría: ballenas jorobadas, Isla de la Reunión”, de Cédric Péneau, ganó el premio para el carnet DAN Europe, en el concurso de fotografía submarina Abissi, de Venecia, Italia.

La ceremonia oficial se celebró el pasado sábado 23 de octubre en el Museo Nacional de Historia, un palacio del siglo XIII situado en el Gran Canal de Venecia, que alberga numerosas colecciones, como fósiles, especímenes botánicos, entomológicos y zoológicos.

La foto ganadora y el nombre del fotógrafo aparecerán en más de 100.000 tarjetas electrónicas de miembros de DAN Europe en toda Europa, Oriente Medio y las Maldivas a lo largo de 2022.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” z_index=””][vc_column el_class=”page-text”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]”Me siento profundamente honrado de que una de mis fotografías haya sido seleccionada para representar a un referente como DAN Europe, que es, con mucho, la agencia de seguridad de buceo más reconocida del mundo – dijo el Sr. Péneau en un comunicado. “Me afilié cuando empecé a viajar al extranjero y me mantuvo tranquilo y sereno, ya que sé que se puede confiar en DAN incluso en lugares remotos (…)”

Umberto Giorgini, Director de Operaciones de DAN Europe, declaró: “La tierna pero poderosa imagen de dos cetáceos, una madre y su cría buceando juntos, en las aguas más azules es muy significativa, y representa bien nuestros valores hacia actividades de buceo más seguras, en océanos más protegidos y saludables. Estamos encantados de que esta foto se muestre a todos nuestros afiliados en la recién diseñada aplicación de DAN Europe, en lugar del clásico pero anticuado carnet de PVC”.

“Organizar un concurso fotográfico internacional en tiempos de Covid fue todo un reto, pero la respuesta tanto de los fotógrafos como del público fue fantástica – declaró Agnese Zane, responsable del comité de organización, junto con Davide Barzazzi y Stefano Cerbai. “Se presentaron 637 obras de fotógrafos de 16 países diferentes, y la calidad fue sorprendentemente alta. Además, Venecia es siempre un lugar de belleza cautivadora. La experiencia en su conjunto hizo que la edición fuera un verdadero éxito”.

Otras dos fotos, ambas macro, un pulpo en aguas del Mediterráneo, de Raffaella Spagnolello, y un colorido pez pipa fotografiado en Filipinas por Giorgio Cavallaro, fueron seleccionadas para un premio de mención especial. Todos los ganadores recibieron una suscripción gratuita a DAN Europe Sport Silver.

 

La historia detrás de una foto increíble

Según el propio fotógrafo: “Las ballenas jorobadas son especies migratorias, que pasan el verano austral en aguas antárticas para alimentarse y suben a aguas tropicales para reproducirse y aparearse. En Isla Reunión tenemos la suerte de tenerlas todos los años, les gusta acercarse a la orilla, y con paciencia y cuidado es posible acercarse a esos curiosos gigantes amables. Cada ballena puede ser individualizada por la forma y el patrón único en blanco y negro de la parte inferior de su aleta caudal, que puede ser identificada por foto y nombrada. Esta madre se llamó Méréva y fue una de las estrellas de la temporada 2018, acercándose a menudo a los buceadores que se aproximaban a ella”.

Acerca del fotógrafo

“Como todos los niños franceses que nacieron en los años 70, crecí viendo las aventuras de Cousteau en la televisión todos los domingos por la tarde y soñando con explorar mundos submarinos, pero no fue hasta los 30 años cuando tuve la oportunidad de probar el buceo. Me enamoré de inmediato y, desde entonces, he buceado en varios lugares, me he convertido en instructor y me he trasladado al departamento tropical francés de ultramar de Isla Reunión, donde vivo y trabajo como profesor de secundaria desde 2006. Me inicié en la fotografía submarina en 2007, con cámaras compactas, y me actualicé a un equipo DSLR en 2011. Soy bastante ecléctico en cuanto a gustos, me gusta todo tipo de tomas, desde fotografías macro de bichos en piscinas de roca poco profundas hasta tomas de gran angular de paisajes de arrecife, incluyendo -por supuesto- cetáceos en el azul profundo. He viajado a varios lugares del mundo (especialmente a Asia, que es mi “continente de buceo” favorito), pero también buceo con regularidad a nivel local y nunca me pierdo la “temporada de ballenas”, cuando tenemos la suerte de que nos visiten estos amables gigantes, en gran número”.

Acerca de Abissi Venecia

El concurso de Venecia fue creado en 2008 por la asociación Abissi-Underwater Photo Venice, con el objetivo de dar a conocer al mundo el mar y sus impresionantes bellezas, a través de la fotografía, la organización de eventos, exposiciones y cursos. En 2015 se introdujo el premio DAN Europe Card.

Un gran evento, en una de las ciudades más bellas del mundo, Venecia. Las copias impresas de todas las fotos ganadoras, en las distintas categorías del concurso -27 instantáneas seleccionadas por un jurado de expertos sobre 637 fotos presentadas este año- se exponen en el Museo Nacional de Historia, en la pintoresca “Galería de los Cetáceos”. Durante los últimos 11 años, las fotos del concurso han enriquecido los archivos del museo, sirviendo también para fines educativos y de investigación.
